Of the many perspectives that have evolved in the field of Psychotherapy it is possible to identify four major viewpoints: the psychoanalytic, the behaviourist, the humanistic and the transpersonal. Transpersonal Counselling & Psychotherapy can help clients in the same way as any other type of therapy, as it encompasses the understanding and methods of the earlier orientations.
The term transpersonal means beyond the personal. Transpersonal psychotherapy helps you (re)discover the deep essential wiser core of yourself – who you really are: The You that transcends the form you find yourself in – your, body, your gender, your ethnicity, your age and physical space in this world. The You that transcends what you have been taught you should feel, what society has moulded you into, what culture and the day to day of life can demand from you. The You that exists no matter how relationships change, or how your appearance changes, or even how the world changes.
What’s different about the transpersonal approach is that it sees difficulties and crises as holding the tools we need for transformation and growth. It works on the fundamental principle of building and expanding on people's strengths or 'qualities'. I see my role as helping you to search within yourself for what these tools are in order to live your life more fully.
