How do I find out more?

Once you have made the decision to start counselling / psychotherapy you ideally need to find a therapist that you feel safe and comfortable with. Research shows that the most significant factor in predicting the outcome of therapy is the relationship between therapist and client.

In the first session you will have the opportunity to ‘try out’ working with me, to ask any questions you may have and to consider your reasons for seeking counselling and psychotherapy. Prior to meeting do contact me me with questions or concerns.

How do I book a first appointment?

You do not ordinarily need a referral from a doctor or GP to see a psychotherapist. You can make an appointment by getting in touch with me directly.

Who do you work with?

I work with:

– individuals (including young people).
– couples (marital, partnerships or family members).

Where do you work?

Face to face counselling and psychotherapy sessions take place in my bespoke therapy room in a private residential setting in Caversham, Reading RG4. The location is a 5 to 10 minute drive (depending on traffic) from the train station in Reading Town Centre.

I offer phone counselling/ psychotherapy (nationally and internationally) for clients who don’t wish to work face-to-face.

When do you work?

I work Monday to Friday. You can find a time to suit you, on your way to work, in your lunch hour, in the evenings or any time in between (subject to availability). Please note that once you have booked a session I require 48 hours notice of cancellation or you will be charged for the session.

How long does therapy last?

Ordinarily I offer hour long sessions rather than the usual ’50 minute hour’ offered by most therapists. I find that having the slightly longer session works best.

In some cases longer sessions can be arranged, for example for clients who live further away / have less availability.

For EMDR I usually advise a longer session of an hour and a half.

Most people prefer to meet weekly or fortnightly, in the early days of therapy. Thereafter we can find a frequency that suits your needs / wants.

I offer both short term (ranging from several weeks) and long-term psychotherapy (up to three years +). How we work together, and for how long is dependent on your needs.

How much does it cost?

I charge £65 per hour long session. I have a limited number of reduced rate slots available for students or people on low incomes – please enquire.
